今有馬來西亞居士看了我成為四位弟子的依止師後
詢問什麼是依止師？
比丘新剃度後，依止其他先輩比丘，而受其監督學法，此師即稱依止阿闍梨。據《釋氏要覽》卷上載，師有二種：一為親教師，即比丘依之出家、受經者；二為依止師，即比丘依之稟受三藏者。而禪林中，亦稱參禪之師為依止師。
換句話說，比丘依靠依止師來學習經教，參禪修道，道業受其監督。原本只有出家人才有依止師，但考量現代人越來越少出家，具格的師父難尋，卻有越來越多的居士對佛法產生興趣而極欲尋找明師。以大慈愍故，以慈悲喜捨故，敝僧不才，願為在家弟子廣開無量方便，只要有人真誠想學佛成道，並自願發心、主動請求我的指導，我都會無所求、責無旁貸、不放棄任何一位眾生地照顧與監督他的道業，在禪法上加以指導，並給予三藏經論一切指引，受四眾弟子依止。一切法皆是假名施設，名相上，依止師的意義最接近我目前的做法，以名假施設故，暫用依止師一詞。以後若有找到更適切的稱呼，再變更名相。
詢問什麼是依止師？

換句話說，比丘依靠依止師來學習經教，參禪修道，道業受其監督。
關於依止師的問題，新加坡弟子提出了與我相近的想法，並發問了幾個問題，如下：
Gd morning MasterAfter reading e meaning of 依止师 my understanding is that e 3 words r actually strictly use for monks n nuns but out of compassion n convenient for a lay follower of today who has taken 3 refuges n whom in particular foll e teachings of a Master A so this Master A is considered to be his Yi Zhi Shi.At e end of e day, these 3 words r empty in nature n we try not to hold its meaning too hard as putting Buddha's teachings into practice is of outmost important. My doubts r
1-If I take refuge fr Master A but foll e learning foot-steps of Master B then e Master B is considered as my Yi Zhi Shi not Master A rt?
2- If a person never take 3 refuges but put into practice e teachings of Master A so this Master A is considered to be his Yi Zhi Shi rt?
3-If a person has taken refuges n likes to foll e teachings of a few Masters then these few Masters r considered to be his Yi Zhi Shi rt?
Sorry For No3 e words 善知识 is more suitable to use instead of Yi Zhi Shi rt?

Yes, in this state and wide meaning, Master B is your Yi Zhi Shi.
2.
Yes, Master A is also the Yi Zhi Shi.
3.
Yes, you can have many Yi Zhi Shis.
The meaning of 善知識 is too wide, not very suitable. Someone suggested the term of 入室弟子 or 嫡傳弟子， but I do not think so. Up to now, 依止師 is still the most appropriate term which refer to my teaching method.

I think San Zhi Shi doesn't weigh as much as Yi Zhi Shi cos Yi Zhi Shi holds a stronger bond to e student while San Zhi Shi is more general to use between a person n someone who guides.

今天讀戒律，發現：
在家弟子僅有三師阿闍梨： 第一是三皈（五戒）阿闍梨，第二是八戒阿闍梨，第三是教讀阿闍梨。三皈師只有一位，八戒師及教讀師可多可少。如受菩薩戒，則另外增加二阿闍梨，菩薩戒沒有和尚，菩薩戒的和尚是本師佛，而非本師比丘法師。
在家弟子如果選擇善知識而親近的話，當可禮之為教讀師，事教讀師，禮同皈依師。
為此之故，教讀師似乎是比依止師更好的稱呼了。
